Informed Consent

This survey is intended for people working in research and innovation around the world. This study is part of the EU-funded ‘Responsible Research and Innovation Networking Globally’ (RRING) project, which is exploring how good practices are established in different research and innovation contexts across the world (rring.eu). RRING is a research collaboration involving institutions from several countries, including UNESCO, University College Cork and many others.

Participation in this survey

You have been invited to participate in this survey because we want to hear your perspective on research and innovation. By participating in this survey, you will be contributing to development of an international approach to enhancing research and innovation policy and practice that reflects the realities of your context.

As a small token of appreciation for your time, all participants will be entered into a prize draw for a free iPad mini and five €50 [approx. $56 US dollars] shopping vouchers.

How much time is needed to participate?

This survey should take you about 30-45 minutes to complete. You will first be asked a set of demographic questions aimed at better understanding your background. You will then be asked to report on the extent to which you agree with and participate in various behaviors related to research and innovation. The survey concludes by asking for your views on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

What happens to the information you provide?

Please be assured that your responses will be kept completely confidential, and the information you provide will only be used for research purposes. Your identity will never be made public, and the data you provide will never be shared with a third party for commercial use.

Your participation in this research is voluntary. You have the right to withdraw at any point during the survey, for any reason, and without any prejudice. Further, you have the right to skip any question, for any reason.

Before we finish, we would like to ask you a few more questions in order to fully benefit from your experience and local knowledge. Your responses to these questions help to ensure we are reaching as diverse a range of people as possible in the next stage of the RRING (rring.eu) project, when we seek to build a global network for good practices in research and innovation.

We understand if you do not have the time to proceed further at this point (in which case you can ’no, I do not want to continue’, and then you will only have a few more questions to complete). But we would be very appreciative if you would consider spending another five minutes giving us a bit more detail about the context that you work in.
